Bukonzo Joint’s organic coffee caught our eye when Coffee Review named it one of the 30 best coffees in the world in 2017. Since then, the cooperative’s coffee has been a regular feature in our house.
The cooperative is almost entirely dominated by women and was able to start its operations thanks to a n/a microloans. The majority of the world’s coffee farmers do not know what their coffee tastes like. Bukonzo women do this because they e.g. invested in its own roasting hut. Just like when you roast it yourself, the same flavors and aromas are felt on the slopes of the Rwenzori Mountains, namely milk chocolate, hazelnut, raisins and blackberries. You can roast their beans for both brew and espresso, but if you do it primarily for espresso, you should also mix in a dash of India (arabica or robusta) or India to soften further.
Our promise to you who roast yourself is to always give you the very best conditions: A hand-picked green coffee from the freshest possible harvest.
Since we primarily roast our own coffee, but also sell it unroasted, we are very keen to ensure that all our green coffee is from the freshest possible harvest. Because just as coffee should always be freshly roasted when you drink it, the freshness of the green coffee also has a huge impact on the end result.
