When we started our roastery, it was easy to buy coffee from Kenya. Our memory was that then, as now, it was relatively expensive to buy but also that it was always super high quality. Today, the younger generation that would have taken over the coffee farm has moved to the big city and is pursuing a career. Those who remain are often interested in other crops, such as tea, which is much more lucrative. This makes it more challenging for us coffee roasters, but it is still possible to come across good Kenyan raw coffee that does not cost the shirt and still delivers nicely on the Kenyan flavor profile.
We ourselves first of all roast Kenya to filter brew. Then the cup offers dark chocolate, sweetness in the form of brown sugar and the berries are dried. In the mouth, blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and dried apricots are mixed. As a coffee from Kenya should be, this is also a full-bodied coffee, the aftertaste soft and long.
This is a hand-picked raw coffee from the freshest possible harvest and we roast it ourselves right now at the roastery.
Just as coffee should always be freshly roasted when you drink it, the freshness of the green coffee is also very important for the end result!
