Origin: Karongi, Western Rwanda Producer: Smallholder Farmers Altitude: 1500-1800 m Varieties: R11, SL28, FM (berry dried) Harvested: 2023/2024 In northwestern Rwanda, the gods are in a good mood. The soil is a nutrient-rich volcanic soil, perfect for cultivating an elegant, stylish coffee. The sun is wasting its rays. The rains make the landscape undulating, green and lush. All this vegetation rewards us with an abundance of aromas. The aftertaste makes this cup unique.
Whether you roast it to enjoy it as espresso or filter coffee.
It can almost be described as the taste that lingers after you’ve eaten a couple of mixed chocolates from the chocolate box.
You taste a creamy nougat, the marzipan from another piece is still there and you sense a little rum raisin.
Satisfied with the experience, you can decide whether to have a couple more pieces – or, as in our case, add another splash to your cup!
The small farmers behind this coffee very rarely each count no more than 200 coffee bushes.
It is a team effort that has driven this coffee and indeed the entire Rwandan coffee industry. This green coffee arrived at the roastery on May 13 and is from the 2023/2024 harvest.
