Where the slopes of the Andes meet the Pacific Ocean, at the very bottom of southern Colombia, lies the Nariño district. Here, up in the mountains at an altitude of 1800-2000 meters, we meet our small-scale and passionate coffee farmers. They number in the thousands and the coffee they give us is world-class.
Even when we roast this coffee in a darker shade than we’re usually used to here at the roastery, the classic Colombian attributes emerge: Dark chocolate, orange (which goes more towards the blood orange content than anything else). These two first violets are accompanied by sweet notes of muscovado sugar, anise and a sweet spiciness. Sweet, jammy, blackberries are present in both taste and aroma.
This is a dark roast that is best enjoyed in its own majesty – without milk. If you take a small splash in your cup, the soft caramel notes will appear. This is a coffee, where you really feel the origin.
We roast this green coffee for both espresso and filter.
