Origin: Rubavu, north-western Rwanda

In the same year that Rwinyoni’s laundry started, they entered Rwanda’s Cup of Excellence, the most prestigious competition in every coffee country, and placed at the very top. In Rwanda, where over half of all coffee produced is classified as specialty coffee, this is a real achievement. A lot has happened since 2012 but this year it was time for us to make our first purchase from the washing station!
In north-western Rwanda, the gods are in a good mood. The soil is a nutrient-rich volcanic soil, perfect for cultivating an elegant, stylish coffee. The sun is wasting its rays. The rains make the landscape undulating, green and lush. All this vegetation rewards us with an abundance of aromas.
The coffee tastes like the filling of a praline, with dark chocolate and some red berry – probably raspberry – in the background. It is creamy and full-bodied, with a mild and sophisticated aftertaste that is simultaneously complex and long. Rwinyoni feels good in big cups. You can roast this green coffee for both espresso and filter brewing.
Our promise to you as a self-roaster is to always give you the best conditions: A hand-picked fresh green coffee.
This green coffee arrived at the roastery on March 23, 2023.
