Few places are more famous for their coffee than Colombia, but not all Colombian beans are created equal. Coffee grown at high altitude is one of the most sought-after Colombian crops. Here, small farmers from the village of San Juan de la China are responsible for the specialty coffee. Their coffee bushes grow at an altitude of 1700-2100 meters above sea level, where the snow-capped Tolima Mountains meet steep hills of nutrient-rich volcanic soil. Very difficult terrain to grow coffee on, but definitely worth the effort.
You can roast this coffee for both espresso and ‘regular’ brewing. You’ll find a classic Colombian in any cup you choose. Deliciously sweet with notes of both brown sugar and vanilla, and very sweet baking spices. It’s reminiscent of a freshly baked, soft cardamom bun, but the juiciness of the coffee makes it more than that. We smell many different stone fruits, such as apricot and peach.
