Origin: Mbozi district, Songwe Altitude: 1600-1671 m Producer: 292 smallholders Varieties: Kent, Bourbon, N39 (washed)
Harvested: 2023/2024 This is a big coffee, much bigger than you might think.
We roast it primarily for filter brewing and then the first sniff offers soft cocoa and aromas of black currant, vanilla and sweet, baked lemon.
The thoughts go straight to Kenya and without belittling Tanzania as the origin, we like to call this coffee a mini-Kenyan.
Because that’s exactly what it feels like, in fact almost like a genuine Kenyan.
The thing is, the prices of Kenyan coffee have skyrocketed something unimaginable.
This then becomes a great alternative.
It’s a hard bean, so even the raw coffee will last a long, long time.
The beans come from 297 small farmers, who have farms no larger than 1 hectare each.
After harvest, they bring the farmers to the cooperative and have done so for over 20 years.
Then it gets good and we can enjoy the fruits of the farmers’ hard work.
An absolutely fantastic raw coffee that you just have to try yourself.
And then buy a lot of it to be able to roast for a long time to come. This green coffee arrived at the roastery on June 3 and is from the 2023/2024 harvest.
