El Salvador as a coffee nation is well known for the balance of the coffees that come from there.
From the 600 small farmers who together make up the cooperative Sociedad Cooperativa de Cafetaleros de San Jose La, here is a textbook example of this.
We have roasted this coffee ourselves, mainly for filter brewing. In velvety flavors, we are met here by soft sweetness, with notes of nuts and chocolate cream. It’s a lively cup, without the acidity standing out. Everything in perfect harmony and without frills.
The cooperative, located in southwest El Salvador, was established 60 years ago. It has a major impact on the whole community around the small town of San José de La Majada. It provides an important source of income for the small coffee farmers, who usually have only a few hectares of coffee each. The quality of the specialty coffee improves year by year and all of it goes back to the farmers and the community through the cooperative.
