Located on the fertile southwestern slopes of Mount Kenya in the country&#8217;s Central Highlands, the district has produced some of the most celebrated lots in Kenyan coffee history &#8211; and that&#8217;s no coincidence. The deep red, iron-rich volcanic soil (locally known as <em>nyeri red<\/em>), the high altitudes and the distinct dry and rainy seasons create an almost ideal environment for slow, concentrated ripening. Here, at an altitude of 1,750-1,900 meters, small farmers grow their coffee on small plots and deliver the berries to local washing stations, where generations of knowledge are translated into meticulous quality work.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">The lot consists exclusively of <strong>SL28<\/strong> &#8211; the iconic variety developed by Scott Agricultural Laboratories in the 1930s that has become almost synonymous with Kenyan copper character: deep, berry-like and with an unmistakable acidic structure. Processing follows the classic Kenyan wet method, where the berries are pulped, fermented, rinsed and graded in channels before being slowly dried on raised beds. The raw coffee has the high density and dense cell structure typical of beans from this altitude, and responds best to <strong>medium to light roasts<\/strong> &#8211; ideal for <strong>filters and pourovers<\/strong>, where the acidity and fruit are allowed to fully express themselves. It&#8217;s also worth noting that this is an unusually affordable Kenyan green coffee &#8211; a chance to get a genuine Nyeri coffee into the roasting drum without breaking the bank.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">In the cup, this is a lively and fresh experience with round, balanced notes of blackcurrant and citrus. The finish is elegant and long, with a distinct hint of black tea giving a delicate, almost perfumed note. A harmonious and precise cup that bears Nyeri&#8217;s signature &#8211; a green coffee for the home roaster seeking classic East African clarity in its purest form.  <\/p>\n<p
