When you drink coffee, you need to be consistent. It is good to use a set of the same cupping bowls on each occasion.<\/p>\n

This Rhinoware porcelain cupping cup has been used at the roastery since day 1. It is black on the inside and white on the outside. It allows you to focus more on aromas, flavors and tastes than on roasting degree\/color.<\/p>\n

It is approved by the Specialty Coffee Association and is widely used in competitions.<\/p>\n

15 easy steps, cup like we do at the roastery:<\/p>\n

  1. Bring water to the boil.<\/li>\n
  2. Grind 15 grams of coffee to medium-fine for each cup.<\/li>\n
  3. Smell what you have painted.<\/li>\n
  4. When the water comes to a boil, let it go down in temp to about 96 degrees, it won’t take longer than 45-60 seconds.<\/li>\n
  5. If you want to be precise and measure the water, take the scale for your first cup.<\/li>\n
  6. Start the timekeeping.<\/li>\n
  7. Pour 240 g of water into each cup, up to the rim of the cup. Make sure that all coffee has been thoroughly soaked. If you want to be precise, keep in mind that even cupping cups can vary by a few grams in weight, so take it cup by cup.<\/li>\n
  8. Smell it! Right now, coffee offers the most aromas and flavors. Do not miss this step.<\/li>\n
  9. After 4 minutes, break the crust on the top of the cup. Break the crust in the order you poured the water. Use the cupping spoon and smell as close as you can – without dipping your nose in the cup! Smell, smell, smell. When you break the crust, proper aromas are released.<\/li>\n
  10. Relax. Breathe in slowly and deeply. When cupping, long and slow inhalations are better than short ones.<\/li>\n
  11. After breaking all the crusts, remove the foam that is on top of the coffee in the cupping cups.<\/li>\n
  12. After 9 minutes, you can start tasting the different coffees. However, we usually wait a full 12 minutes, as it is important that the coffee is not too hot. Put the spoon just below the surface of the coffee, bring it up to your lips and sip so that the coffee is sprayed into your mouth. Sip properly!<\/li>\n
  13. Focus on the aromas, mouthfeel, flavors and other sensations that emerge. Take good notes and feel free to use the SCA coffee wheel(click here<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  14. If you taste many different varieties, spit. Otherwise, you can of course swallow, it’s good coffee.<\/li>\n
  15. Once you’ve tasted all the varieties, take a short break. Then taste again when the coffee has come down more in temperature. Take further notes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
